Two plus doesn’t add up

Old Father time has taken it’s toll on some of the bantams, and there are only two left, looking lonely and sad in a large coop which originally housed eight.  Sandie had the bright idea of adding two (code for as many as I can get away with!) more.  So, after a phone call, we drove to near Abergaveny to purchase some.  Abortive, the seller didn’t turn up and the place wasn’t clean and tidy.

The following day, after some Facebook searching, she located a farmer near Brecon who had some for sale, so off we went again.  Lovely farm, clean, tidy and the birds were nicely presented.  Problem – they were Lace Wyandotts and were larger than we wanted.  No problem, buy them anyway – three ladies and a male about twelve months old and had been used for breeding.  On the journey home, we discussed how to incorporate the two existing small birds, with the larger new ones to avoid bullying.  Answer – easy, incorporate the two into the other bantam coop.

Not easy as the cockerel didn’t take to the two new ones, which meant they were being bullied.  In the meantime the four new ones had settled into the coop wonderfully well.

Solution – re-build an unused Omlet Cube mark one, which is a vast cathedral of a building, to accommodate the two – won’t that mean that they would look even more sad and more lonely?  Yup, but that’s what happens round here!

So set to build the new coop.
