If you’ve been reading you’ll know that Beefy cuts or trims the surrounding hedges with his tractor and flail. Each year at around this time he appears and each year at the same time I order from Amazon, the isolated house-holders friend an inner tube 4.00-8.
We have three wheelbarrows. The donkey poo one, galvanised steel (or what passes for it) solely used for that because of ammonia degradation. The sheep poo one, which is a top of the range Hammerlin with all the extras (heated seats, satnav) except the original steel barrow which we replaced (because of donkey wee) with a cheap plastic fit any barrow one for £15. Love this one it is perfectly balanced and will tackle any job, and with original handle grips, and it has a solid tyre. Will accept offers.
The third one is the “off the back of a lorry” Fort bargain that handles general barrow jobs like taking the recycling bins to the 470. We spotted it on the side of the A470 road just after the said lorry had passed by. Real bargain. I easily repaired the split in the (plastic) barrow, and hasn’t cost anything (apart from eight inner tubes at £5 + each). The point is; each barrow has a specific job to do, and my brain only computes that, so the Fort lorry one does the general tasks like grass cuttings, gravel, gardening etc.
After Beefy’s visit, the following day, take the lorry barrow to the top of the track with the recycling bins, and the day after that it doesn’t bounce over curbs and slabs. The link? Beefy’s flail has beaten the daylights out of the hawthorn hedging alongside the track and the thorns lie there, all innocent like and the barrow wheel gets punctured. If only my brain will get out of automatic and think laterally- Beefy/recycling/use the solid wheel barrow!
Anyway, for your delectation here is slow television of me replacing the inner tube.
