Oh gourd, or more precisely oh courgette. We tried growing a round courgette variety this year. As we know, no matter how diligent one is, underneath the elephantine leaves there always lurks a renegade or two of the small variety which one then discovers as a melon sized offering.

Same with the round type which matures into a gourd or pumpkin lookalike. Ours form a seasonal autumnal reminder of the changing season.
