Happyhens

This is Sandie choosing a couple of new bantams, after the death of two of the travellers.  We ended up with six!.  How did that happen?

This is Sandie with Nicki of Happyhens.co.uk – and immaculately run and managed chicken breeder near Leominster.

We got back to home about 17.30, so we could chuck the chucks in with Marmite and his remaining girl, Lily (a time honoured method of inserting new chickens into an existing brood.  This is the new arrivals the next morning.  Marmite is the manly black strutting one in the second picture down.

They joined us on Friday last (it is now Monday), so two nights in their new abode and settling in nicely after nearly a hiccup.  Nicki told us that they were all weaned onto layers pellets – the big girls feed.  Whilst this was correct in theory, in practice they hadn’t had enough practice with their new feed so we detuned the feed to a smaller grain size which they could handle better – all happy chucks now!
