The summer in this part of Wales is marked by village carnivals, shows, and fun every weekend.  It is a tradition based on community.  Newbridge used to have 13 shops, it now has one village store and a hairdresser.  People used to come to the village every week to catch up and meet and greet.  It is a small event, but has a loyal and large following with surrounding villages coming to see what occurs.

There were13 entries in the procession this year including old tractors, there is also dressing up competitions for various ages and families.

Last of all is the local band “Lucky Pierre” a fabulous tribute band with a lady drummer (who is the post lady), a very accomplished lead guitar (who is the F&F man in Tesco), a second rhythm guitar (who works in Aldi), and a chain smoking bass guitar (dunno).And boy, do the villagers know how to party!  The large forecourt of one of the local pubs was packed for the outdoor event, and the adjacent green was also packed with picnic chairs. Everybody knows everyone else, they went to school together, dated each other, married and divorced each other and work with each other.
