Wintery showers are the order of the day, on and off all day, but not getting worse and sticking

Then, just as it was getting dark, the red Kites came out,

Not a clear image, altogether there were 20+ of them circling the paddock. I insisted Sandie stayed indoors in front of the log fire; I didn’t want her carried off into the forrest, as in some Grimm fairy tale, you never know at this time of year. She’s far too precious to risk that, besides that, she’s probably starting cooking in an hour or so.
