The solstice
Getting up to start the breakfast round of the animals after the longest night of the year. The solstice is now behind us and the days will get longer.

Still a couple of winter months to go, but it’s more bearable with lighter mornings. But only to the equinox, after that we dislike the summer months until the autumn equinox. It’s all to do with log fires, pulling up the drawbridge and drawing the curtains.
During this time we are of course on GMT rather than BST. We celebrate the meridian and the importance of Greenwich in international timekeeping.
