Sleepy lagoon…
well not quite, as you (might) know the theme tune for “Desert Island Discs”, but this is our idyllic place to spend our time.
Seen here with our Christmas lights on, the cottage nestles in it’s landscape as if it is here by right, and since it dates from 1750 or so, I suppose it does have that right. Walking the dogs on a late December evening, with the fire burning brightly, and a casserole simmering in the Rayburn, I tend to speed up and get back home quickly. As I get nearer the cottage the said casserole can be smelt, enticing me further, the reason? The Rayburn is a sealed hotbox so the aromas go up the chimney (or chimbly as my school colleagues used to call them). Once the dogs have been fed and bedded down, and the donks similarly, the red wine can be opened and savoured in front of the fire!
