Post Darragh

All is calm (now), all shall be well (at last). The power of the river is to be seen to be believed. A beach has vanished.

Pre- Darragh.

This photo looks downstream and a pebble beach is on the left

Post – Darragh

Not from exactly the same viewpoint but as you can see – no beach.

No before and after, but I turned 180 degrees to snap this strata of pebbles lying in what was an empty overflow channel to the main river. Guess the tonnage that has appeared…

And that’s the story of the river – of constant change and a gradual migration of soil, stones and pebbles of all sizes to the sea. By next winter this new filled gulley will become the missing beach.
