Not very, but hopefully enough to deter at least some weekend visitors. The last two weekends have been sunny/hot, and as lockdown was eased, a barmy army of treckers crossed the border. BBC news estimated that 200,000 plus motorcycles were awheel tearing all over the place. The direct effect on us was minimal as we are away from the A470, and much lower down, but the background noise of “straight through” exhausts, takes a toll.
Add to that the Porsche club rally, and the VW Golf GTI club rally, both of which were clearly ignoring the village speed (and noise) limits, and mayhem ensued.
We also have many examples of “fish out of water” visitors with piles of rubbish being left in the Elan valley, good that they come, but how to teach basic respect and sensitivity.
So it’s good then that lockdown has eased – right? Jury out round here!
