Friday at Joan’s. In the absence of visitors it has become the norm to go round to Joan on this day each year for Fish and Chips, cooked by herself. We deliver the Tesco grocery delivery as well. Why Tesco? Well, why not? They have the monopoly round here with the local superstore in Newtown operating the delivery service. We could use Asda and Morrison’s but their “slots” are not as convenient or as numerous. Sainsbury is located in Hereford and occasionally we use that store if we are in the vicinity which is two or three times a month, but they refuse to deliver stating that the postcode is not recognised and anyway it is too far away from them. “How so”, we say as their vans pass the end of our track on the A 470 and we wave? No reply!
We also take time to water her plants in the front garden, for which we (she) has assumed responsibility. We try to keep in tidy, watered, weeded and themed which brings her some pleasure even if she cannot see them properly. And we have to keep up with Gwellyn (Gwethlin) who lives an adjacent flat and who relishes and enjoys the front garden challenge that she has taken on.
It really is the delightful area that it seems in the photographs. Quiet, peaceful, and life seems to go on at a sedate and pleasurable pace. Time to plan for Summer and a riot of colour for her! In the meantime, these were picked from our daffodil paradise.
