Happy Christmas Day
“Had a good Christmas?”
“Yes thanks, quiet, you know”
“Yes ours was as well, did you see Morecambe and Wise?”
“No, Grandma fell asleep and we didn’t want to wake her”.
“But it’s for kids really isn’t it?”
Water cooler conversations. How many times did I hear that chat, about a quiet Christmas spoken of quietly, almost apologetically, as if somehow everyone had to have a riotous, noisy, lairey, drunken celbridy style, lavish expensive do.
Well, this year certainly was different, and very enjoyable, and very different. Joan, joined us, and she was on top form. Sandie’s cousins and brother Skyped in, and the Whorwood’s were WhatsApp/Facebooking us all day, so although we were all isolating and in small groups, it felt like we were part of a lovely large family event.
