Fishy goings on…

In the water. First thing this morning, Rosie was taking a large interest in the river bank.

Walking both at lunch time both dogs displayed huge interest in the same spot. I then noticed small circular deposits in the water, which was curious, and wondered if a fish might be around.

Sure enough, lying on the bottom of a shallow pool adjacent to the area of interest was a Salmon. Some three feet (one metre to non-anglers) long.

As you can see from the ruler (appropriately called ”the big one”!) taking perspective and the hidden head into account, a good size. And the small circular items – fish roe.

Two facts emerge – otter activity, we know because we’ve seen them, and spawning beds, which we know about as well, but no proof ’till now.
