As of dusk last night, both groundwater and river levels had fallen. The river was down to four feet above normal, and still no sign of the island in the middle, and at five feet it should be an enormous root ball bulwark showing.  The speed of flow is also faster than a four foot flood.  And the steps are now visible.

The donkeys were frightened and easily spooked as they wouldn’t cross a tiny amount of water to get into the stable.
