as they say.  Took a ride to the Elan valley to see the dams.  The first one is Caban Coch which holds- ready?  8000.000.000 gallons of water.  With a surface area of 500+ acres.  The second one

is Claerwen dam, opened in the early 50’s it is the last to be finished, I remember as a child having a class project on the building and opening by The Queen, one of her first tasks as the Monarch.  And, perhaps little known fact, RAF Squadron 644 practiced on an old Elan Valley dam prior to the raid on the German dams.
